STAFFORD – (Press release) Route 218 (Caledon Road/White Oak Road) in Stafford and King George counties will be reduced to a single lane at midday over the next two weeks to allow crews to install a centerline rumble strip as a safety improvement.

Route 218 will be reduced to a single lane between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Monday, April 1 through Friday, April 5, and again on Monday, April 8 through Friday, April 12.


WOODBRIDGE — (Press release) On April 1 at 3:16 a.m., officers responded to the Dollar General located at 13215 Occoquan Road in Woodbridge to investigate an alarm.

Surveillance footage revealed that at 3:07 a.m. an unknown male suspect threw a brick through the front glass window and made entry into the business, triggering off the alarm. The suspect fled the area on foot.

STAFFORD — (Press release) Stafford County is moving ahead with the FY2020 Proposed Budget process with a public hearing on Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at 7 p.m.

To accommodate more participants, the location has been changed to the auditorium at Brooke Point High School, 1700 Courthouse Road in Stafford. The hearing is part of a series of meetings designed to move the Board of Supervisors forward to final adoption of the FY2020 Budget on April 16, 2019.


WOODBRIDGE — (Press release) The Prince William County Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism has designated the cultural and recreational assets of Rippon Lodge Historic Site, Rippon Landing Park and the new Neabsco Creek Boardwalk that will open June 1 as a new regional parkland complex.

The various sites comprising this new park are near the Neabsco Creek tidal wetlands which feed like bays into the Potomac River. This opportunity allows us to leverage the full tourism potential of current historic property holdings, accelerate natural resource management, accelerate cultural land acquisition and preservation, and expand educational programming.

STAFFORD – (Press Release) Stafford Hospital physicians, leaders and clinicians are celebrating the Robert A. Warriner III, M.D., Center of Excellence award, given to the Stafford Hospital Wound Healing Center of Woodbridge.

The Center has achieved patient satisfaction rates higher than 92 percent and a healing rate of at least 91 percent in less than 30 median days to heal, for a minimum of two consecutive years. The Center was awarded this prestigious honor by Healogics, the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services.

STAFFORD – (Press Release) Brooke Point High School Inspire Virginia student officers will host a Virginia Senior Rally on Tuesday, April 9, at 8 a.m. The group has organized a voter registration rally at BPHS to address the importance of registering to vote and participating in elections.

The goal of the group is to promote citizenship and engagement among the graduating class of 2019. Student leaders trained by Inspire Virginia representatives to register new voters will lead the effort.

WARRENTON – (Press Release) As of Friday, March 29, at 7 a.m., all Novant Health UVA Health System facilities will lift visitor restrictions that were put in place February 8.

During the height of this flu season, Novant Health UVA Health System asked the community to keep visitors age 12 and under out of all its hospital facilities. As a result of the declining number of flu cases seen over the past few weeks, these restrictions will be lifted.

WASHINGTON — The Wow Air counter at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, usually buzzing with travelers and employees, sat barren without a soul on Thursday, a stark symbol of the airline’s sudden closure.

The low-cost carrier, based in Iceland, confirmed Thursday in a statement and on its website that it had ended operations and cancelled all previously scheduled flights, leaving travelers stranded in Maryland, three other U.S. airports it serves, and abroad.
