WOODBRIDGE — (Press release) In February, the Prince William County Republican Committee decided to use a Party process to select the candidates who will appear on the ballot in November for both Constitutional Offices (Sheriff and Commonwealth’s Attorney) and the Board of County Supervisors.  

They were joined in this decision by Manassas and Manassas Park Republicans for the Constitutional Offices.

STAFFORD – (Press release) Stafford County Administrator Thomas C. Foley is pleased to announce the hiring of Alexandre A. Espinosa as the County’s next Chief Financial Officer.

Espinosa comes to Stafford from Montgomery County, Maryland, where he is Director of the Department of Finance and has more than 21 years of experience in budgeting and finance, managing an annual budget of $5 billion.


OCCOQUAN – (Press release) The Town of Occoquan recently received a new historical marker, situated at the base of the Nathaniel Ellicott footbridge and the town’s River Mill Park.

The new marker details the history of the Ballendine Ironworks and the Janney Cotton Mill.  According to Mayor Earnie Porta, the marker is the brainchild of Mill House Museum Administrator, Dolores Elder, who spearheaded the effort through the Occoquan Historical Society, which paid for the marker.

MANASSAS – (Press release) Write by the Rails (WbtR), the Prince William Chapter of the Virginia Writers Club, is pleased to announce its Spring Writer’s Workshop to be held Saturday, April 13, 2019 from 1:30 to 5 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal, 9325 West Street, Manassas.

The event will provide opportunity for writers of all levels to learn more about publishing, preparing to write a book, copyright, motivation and more.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — On March 25 at 9:25 p.m. police were called to investigate a carjacking.

The victim, a 48-year-old man, reported to police that he left the vehicle running and entered the store. Upon returning to his vehicle, the victim found a strange man inside the car. A struggle ensued resulting in the victim being pushed away and the suspect fleeing in the victim’s vehicle.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — (Press release) Manassas National Battlefield Park is preparing for a prescribed fire between March 26 and April 5, 2019.

These dates may be extended depending upon weather conditions. The planned fire will be in the Deep Cut area of the battlefield, encompassing approximately 40 acres of open fields and brush.
