FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. – The chatter about selling Virginia’s state-owned liquor stores is getting louder.

A new plan from Gov. Robert F. McDonnell’s office would put liquor licenses up for sale on three separate tiers of limited private licensing, which would then be sold to the highest bidders, according to the Associated Press.

LAKE RIDGE, Va.—A Woodbridge man was killed in a car crash Monday.

Rescue crews were called to the area of Rolling Brook Drive and Tumbling Brook Lane in Lake Ridge about 9:45 p.m. The driver of a 2007 Chevrolet van was traveling north on Rolling Brooke Drive when it crossed a double yellow line, swerved out of control and struck a curb and several trees before landing on its side.


FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va.  – A Fairfax man was charged Thursday with endangering the lives of aircraft operators.

A county police chopper was flying over Mantua Elementary School, near George Mason University, when the pilot spotted a group of people at the elementary school at 11:26 p.m.


WOODBRIDGE, Va. – Police say a Baptist pastor has resigned from his church and now faces sex charge

A 17-year-old female told police that she and the pastor shared several consensual sexual encounters in April, but that the two began a close friendship in Sept. 2007, said Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok.

MOUNT VERNON, Va. – Traffic congestion may force some of the 20,000 federal employees that are expected in the region next year because of BRAC to stay away. One local business group aims to convince them otherwise.

BRAC, the military’s acronym for base realignment and closure, authorized in 2005 by congress, will force the relocation of the tens of thousands of federal and military employees to Ft. Belvoir Army Base and Quantico Marine Corps Base.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. – Virginia Railway Express’ new express train was delayed during it inaugural run Monday.

The train left the Fredericksburg station on time at 5:15 a.m., but then hit delays in Stafford County and into Woodbridge, said VRE Board Chair Paul Milde.
