Germanna Community College announced Thursday the college will return to class Tuesday, Sept. 6, following the 5.8 magnitude earthquake that rocked the East Coast on Tuesday.
Nursing and dental hygiene students will resume classes Friday, Aug. 30, according to college spokeswoman Barbara Taylor.

Dumfries, Va. — Jeff Frederick was one of the winners in the Republican Primary Election on Tuesday, beating his opponent Tito Munoz.
Frederick celebrated his win and eventual Republican nomination to run for the 36th District Virginia Senate seat in November. He will face Democratic incumbent Toddy Puller who was first served in the in the Virginia House of Delegates in 1992 and later to the Virginia later in the Virginia Senate since 2000.

Triangle, Va. — The unexpected 5.8 magnitude earthquake in Mineral, Va., on Aug. 23 led to numerous evacuations across the Potomac Communities and beyond.
Update 1o p.m.
Eric Olsen defeats challenger Jason Pelt with 63 percent of the vote in the Republican Primary Election. Olsen will go onto run this fall for Commonwealth Attorney and will most likely be uncontested.
The Hills at Aquia continues to expand as Rosner Nissan of Stafford has opened its doors along U.S. 1 in North Stafford. It’s affiliated with Rosner Toyota, which sits about a half-mile away on nearby Va. 610.
“We’re pulling a lot of people who have not had the choice to by Nissan in Stafford, giving them another choice than Toyota,” said general manager Bob Gasbarri.

The U.S. Geological Survey has confirmed a 4.2 aftershock centered near Mineral, Va. at 8:05 p.m.
Update 8:30 a.m. Wednesday
Trees are being cut back to make way for the new sidewalk, which will connect walking path lined with street lights along Hampton Park with a sidewalk at Eustace Road, near Woodlands Pool.
Garrisonville District Supervisor Mark Dudenhefer says the path has been a long time coming.
