Woodbridge, Va. –– The high-tech firm, Vectare, in June outgrew its office space at the Mason Enterprise Center at George Mason University.
The small company gained 10 employees and chose to move out of its incubator space fostered by the center and into their own office. The Enterprise Center calls it “graduating.”
Woodbridge, Va. –– Tito Munoz on this late summer, almost autumnal morning, greeted the few early voters at Belmont Elementary School.
That’s where Munoz, a Republican, voted in today’s Primary Election Day for who he says is the best candidate to represent the 36th District in the Virginia Senate – himself.
Army Sgt. Alessandro L. Plutino, 28, of New Jersey, was killed by small arms fire in Afghanistan on Aug. 8.
Plutino’s father lives in Woodbridge, said Prince William County spokesman Jason Grant.
North Stafford, Va. –– A wider Va. 610 in North Stafford is open to drivers.
While the wider road has been open to traffic for more than a week, the Virginia Department of Transportation heralded the completion of the project that widened the road from two to four lanes allowing it to carry more traffic.
Dumfries, Va. –– As the Republican Primary Election approaches on Tuesday, one survey has Jeff Frederick as the likely victor and GOP candidate in Virginia’s 36th Senate District this fall.
Frederick’s campaign released the results of the survey which show Frederick with a commanding lead over opponent Tito Munoz, with 57 percent for Frederick vs. Munoz’s nearly 15 of the vote, according to the survey. It also found 27 percent of those polled had no preference for either candidate.
Stafford, Va. –– A campaign sign has drawn the ire of Hollywood producers.
A sign depicting Stafford sheriff’s Charles E. Jett and Assistant Commonwealth Attorney Eric Olsen as dispensing law and order in the county popped up last week along Va. 610, at outside the courthouse. The campaign sign is not surprising as Jett is trying keep his elected sheriff’s position and Olsen aims to become Stafford’s top prosecutor.
Dumfries, Va. –– A single red fire truck was called to investigate a fire at one of three radio towers on Mine Road in Dumfries about 2:20 p.m. Saturday.
No one was hurt and there was no serious damage at the tower, though the fire crew said they could see and smell smoke once they arrived on the scene.
Marilyn Duval probably wanted to ask her question to Woodbridge Supervisor Frank Principi herself, but something happened to her phone connection and we never heard her voice during Principi’s telephone town hall conference Wednesday night.

Woodbridge, Va. –– Children gathered by the half pipe herald the redesign of the only public skate facility at a Prince William County park.
Since 2009, officials with the Prince William Park Authority have discussed remodeling the Skate Park at Veterans Memorial Park in Woodbridge.
