A judge has thrown out a filing from a Stafford County resident claiming Eric Olsen, whose running for Commonwealth Attorney in that county, does not live in Stafford. State election officials require candidates to live in the jurisdictions they wish to represent. More to come.

Woodbridge, Va. — There’s a cozy restaurant with a mix of Mediterranean food and wine hoping to find its place in Woodbridge’s sea of chain restaurants.
This week I finally had a chance to visit the 9/11 Memorial in New York City. The last time I had seen the site was in 1998. Back then, of course, the Twin Towers were still standing. At the time, I had made it a point to go to the observation deck at the top of the World Trade Center. I remember the amazing views of New York Harbor, the Statue of Liberty, and the surrounding area that I enjoyed from that man-made summit.
We all thought those towers were a permanent fixture of the Manhattan skyline. How sad we were when the attacks on 9/11 tragically disproved that notion.
One man learned that Tuesday about 6 p.m. when he went into the popular pizza eatery on Va. 610 in North Stafford, took some food from a backpack and asked the restaurant owner to heat it up. The owner said no because he didn’t buy the food from the restaurant, and that’s when the hungry man became irate, said Stafford sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy.
The man began to curse and threaten the owner and was told to leave. When he didn’t the owner grabbed a stick and, never hitting the man with it, used it to escort the man to the door, said Kennedy. The man continued to argue and that’s when the owner’s brother who was also at the restaurant ran to help, and was punched in the face by the irate man, said Kennedy.

Visitors to Prince William County generated almost $444 million in revenue last year, a 6.8 percent increase from 2009. In the City of Manassas, visitors generated almost $54 million, a 5.5 percent increase from 2009 and in Manassas Park about $1.2 million, which was a 3.7 percent increase.
The figures, which were calculated by the U.S. Travel Association, represent what domestic travelers spent on everything from meals, lodging and public transportation to shopping, admissions and entertainment. Virginia Tourism Corporation officials also said that every dollar Virginia invests in tourism marketing, generates $5 in tax revenue.

The popular Tiziano’s Italian Restaurant in Dumfries will open a second location at the old Q Town staple on Potomac Avenue and will be called Tiziano’s at the Command Post Pub. Owner Robert Aquino, 58, says he’s excited to open a new business in a place that for more than 30 years had served Marines and locals alike.
North Stafford, Va. — A composite sketch of the man police think could have tried to abduct a girl in the Garrison Woods Apartments off Onville Road in North Stafford one week ago is out.
Stafford sheriff’s authorities said the man is light skinned, possibly Hispanic, thin but muscular and had short black hair that was spiked in front. Police added the man did not have any facial hair and that he spoke with a faint accent.
Woodbridge, Va. –– Local bus riders this month will have two new ways to pay for their travel and to transfer to buses in Prince William County.
Beginning Nov. 14, the Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission will introduce its Electronic Weekly Pass – a SmarTrip rechargeable fare card that for $11 per week can be used to purchase unlimited rides on OmniLink and Cross-County Connector buses in Prince William, Manassas and Manassas Park. Riders will also be able to purchase a day pass for unlimited local travel on these buses for $2.50 per day.
