FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — New express lanes on the Capital Beltway between Springfield and Tysons Corner are slated to open Nov. 17 – earlier than expected, according to Virginia transportation officials.
Those same officials now urge drivers to get familiar with those lanes and how they work, and to know what you’ll need to use the tolled lanes for a faster commute.
As campaigns roll into their final hours, the attention paid to our area continues. Here’s some quick last-minute election notes:

NORTH STAFFORD, Va. — Some of the coastal landmarks Michael Pollaci grew up with are gone – swept away by Hurricane Sandy.
Now the Stafford County businessmen, and others, are collecting goods and supplies to help residents of the battered northeast coastline.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Wegmans Supermarkets are voluntarily recalling Wegmans Pumpkin Rolls that were sold in the bakery between Sept. 1 and Oct. 30 because the food could contain pieces of plastic, according to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration.
It’s going to get cold out there tonight, and unprotected plans won’t like it very much.
A freeze watch is in effect from late tonight into early Monday morning as temperatures are expected to be in the low 30s, according to the National Weather Service.

Malicious Wounding – On November 2nd at 12:32AM, police responded to investigate a stabbing which was reported to have occurred in the 18300 block of Chestnut Dr in Triangle (22172).
The victim, a 41 year old man of Triangle, was found lying front of an address in the 18400 block of Woodland Dr. The victim reported to police that he was assaulted by 3 males on Chestnut Dr. During the encounter, one of the men stabbed the victim in the neck.
