Manassas Farmers Market has more vendors, ‘Take-Out Tuesdays’

The City of Manassas Farmer’s Market is back for its 25th peak season. Running from April through early November, the market is open on both Thursdays and Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. The Thursday market will be housed at the Harris Pavilion beginning April 7, while Saturday shoppers can find all their market necessities in Parking Lot B, across from the Train Depot beginning April 9.

This year, there are many seasoned vendors returning as well as a mix of new and exciting vendors. With veteran vendors featuring fresh fruits and vegetables, handmade candles, coffee, meats, –new vendors will offer pickles, dumplings, mushrooms, and more. Compared to previous years’ markets, this year, both markets will feature a larger number of vendors.

The market makes for a great educational field trip for young children; you’ll regularly see City school children touring the Thursday morning market.  The market vendors typically discuss the importance of fresh foods and gardening and the Master Gardeners group teach fun demos. Classes interested in arranging a field trip to the market should contact Farmer’s Market Coordinator, Erin Beckman, at 703-361-6599.

Back again for a second year is the Tuesday evening market. From 5 – 8 p.m., “Take-Out Tuesdays” will be at the Harris Pavilion. Each week, a new singer or band will perform a free concert while market vendors are set up on the opposite end of the pavilion. The Take-Out Tuesday concert and market combo series will run from June through August.

Join us on Thursday April 7 at 10 a.m. to help celebrate the opening of the 2016 peak season market with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at the Harris Pavilion…and then stick around and pick up all your necessities at the market!

For updates on the market, follow the City of Manassas Farmer’s Market Facebook page and go to www.visitmanassas.org for a complete list of market vendors.
