Chamber President Arrested for Charity

Prince William police Maj. Tim Rudy places Prince William Chamber of Commerce President Rob Clapper in handcuffs during a charity event Wednesday. (Submitted)

Police arrested the President of the Prince William Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, but it was all for charity.

A fundraiser for the Lake Ridge Rotary Clubs was held Wednesday afternoon where those who dined were charged not only for what ordered, but also for cups and straws they drank from as well as the napkins they used to wipe up.

Word has it one generous donor paid $100 to have Prince William police Maj. Tim Rudy arrest chamber president Rob Clapper.

“That’s what happens when you invest heavily in your community and do good work for charity, we end up putting you in hand cuffs,” Rudy  said jokingly.

At least six people paid to have someone arrested by police, and the charity netted even more money when others paid to have then released from “police custody.”

Other antics at the charity event included Prince William Supervisor Mike May walking around the restaurant telling jokes for money, we hear.
