There may have been puddles dotting the ground but that didn’t keep 108 dedicated egg hunters from Rippon Lodge once the sun came out Saturday.
Rippon Lodge in Woodbridge is one of the oldest remaining houses in Prince William County.
The house was built in 1747 and recently restored and is now open to the public from May to October for both tours and special events, such as the annual Egg Hunt.
Rebecca Super, site manager at Rippon Lodge, says that the annual hunt has been going on for several years and is one of the biggest events they host. “It’s our first event of the season, and it definitely gets people out”, said Super.
Children were able to hunt for eggs in one of several hunts from 11-3 as well as enjoying craft activities, “colonial games” and exploring the grounds.
For 5-year-old Sarah, who attended with her mother, it was all about the candy. “I want to find all the eggs!!” she exclaimed with excitement minutes before a hunt began.
Rippon Lodge hosts several events during their open season for both adults and children. Their next childrens event will be a Colonial Game Day on May 14th from 11-4. The event is $7 for children and free for the accompanying adults.
