The sounds of the country
Blake Shelton has been singing country tunes since he graduated from high school in 1994. Now he’ll be singing them for you tonight at 9 p.m. at Celebrate Virginia Live, at Central Park in Fredericksburg. There are a limited number of special tickets available, so those who haven’t already gotten their seat should head over the venue’s Web site.
Premier boxing
On Saturday at George Mason University’s Patriot Center, popular junior middleweight contender, Jimmy Lange (31-4-2, 22 KOs) of Great Falls, Va. looks to get back on the winning track when he goes head-to-head against ring veteran Jimmy LeBlanc (12-16-4, 4 KOs) of Weymouth, Mass. in the Main Event – a 10-round headliner called “No Excuses.”
Ice cream and Rock
Those who go to the Lorton Workhouse Arts Center on Saturday are in store for ice cream and Rock music.
For a $15 donation, visitors will receive a handmade bowl with ice cream and the chance to win another piece of ceramic made by one of the students. The donations go to support the programs at the arts center.

Tour the Rappahannock
All of the dams have been removed and the Rappahannock River is the way it used to be, just free flowing water. The Virginia Outdoor Center urges you to come and take a canoe tour with them this weekend.
They offer canoe and kayak rentals, ropes courses and youth classes at their center off Fall Hill Avenue in Fredericksburg.
