Lake Jackson/Mid-County Lions Club Members Attend District 24-A Fall Conference

Members of the Lake Jackson/Mid-County Lions Club, recently attended the 59th annual Fall Conference for District 24-A. Gloria Wilson, Joe Angsten, Joe Blatter, Judy and Russ Holt were among more than 200 Lions who participated in the conference that drew representatives from clubs across Northern Virginia.

The keynote speaker for the conference was Lions Club International 1st Vice President, Joseph Preston.

With the theme of the conference being “A Focus on Your Health”, participants attended breakout sessions on Eye Care, Diabetes Management, Nutrition and Foot and Ankle Care. According to District Governor, Mike Ryan, “My overall dream for the Fall Conference is to have each of us leave on Sunday morning with a new lease on life, pledging to ourselves and to those who love and care about us, that WE will turn over a new leaf and choose to live a healthier life, so the we can continue to serve our fellow man long into the future.”

Locally Lions Club members make an impact in the community through service, such as Sight & Hearing screenings, supporting Boy Scout Troop 1378 and the Leader Dog for the Blind Program. Proceeds from past fund-raising events have been made to the Senior Citizens Center of Manassas, Special Olympics and the PWC Hospital Wellness Center for Diabetes. The club is currently preparing for their upcoming Citrus Sale.

The Lake Jackson/Mid-County Lions Club has 29 members and meets on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month at the Great American Buffet in Manassas. Lions clubs are groups of men and women who identify needs within their communities and work together to fulfill those needs.
