NORTH STAFFORD, Va. — It’s raining, it’s pouring, and the work to repave Staffordboro Boulevard ahead of a project to add 1,000 new commuter parking spaces to at adjacent Staffordboro commuter lot next to Stafford Marketplace mall is postponed.
More in a press release:
Paving work scheduled for Route 684 (Staffordboro Boulevard) in Stafford County this weekend has been cancelled due to weather conditions.
The work has been rescheduled for the weekend of October 18-21.
Two lanes of Staffordboro Boulevard will be closed from Stafford Marketplace to north of Woodstream Boulevard from 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 18 to shortly after 12 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 21.
The Staffordboro Boulevard entrance to Stafford Marketplace will be closed to all traffic. Motorists traveling to Stafford Marketplace should use the Route 610 or Prosperity Lane entrance to the shopping center.
Northbound Staffordboro Boulevard traffic will be detoured to Pike Place to access Woodstream Boulevard
This paving work is part of a Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) project to add nearly 1,000 new commuter parking spaces to the Staffordboro Boulevard Park & Ride lot.
VDOT is requiring the contractor to enhance these segments of Staffordboro Boulevard with roller-compacted concrete as a base layer, where construction vehicles will be traveling during the project.
Construction of the $12.9 million improvement project is scheduled to take 16 months, and will open to users in October 2014.
