MANASSAS PARK, Va. — The Aubergine Chef donated a watermelon-colored mixer to the Manassas Park Community Center.
Jason Shriner, who is known as the Aubergine Chef, runs a blog under the same name that offers free recipes and video cooking tutorials. When not cooking online, Shriner teaches classes at the community center that is in need of a mixer.
“I recently attended Eat Write Retreat, a food blogger convention that took place in Philadelphia, and won a KitchenAid mixer. We’ve been needing mixers for over a year now so this was perfect timing,” Shriner said.
In the past, those in the center’s cooking classes have had to bring their own mixers in order to participate. Now, they won’t have to.
“Professional hands-on cooking classes was always our goal, and Jason brings that to us. He’s been a huge help launching the culinary program including recruiting additional instructors,” said Manassas Park Community Center Recreation Supervisor Tony Thomas.
The mixer that was donated is a five quart KitchenAid artisan stand mixer. Shriner will also donate several OXO tools and an 8 inch Calphalon pan. All these tools are brand new from the food blogger conference — all utensils he won at the conference in Philadelphia.
