Osbourn Park Student, 17, Killed in Crash

Update

Police identified the driver of a fatal crash today as a student from Osbourn Park High School in Manassas. 

The driver of the 2008 Ford Mustang has been identified as Michael Murphy SCHMELZINGER, 17, of Manassas and a student at Osbourn Park High School

The investigation revealed that the driver, the only occupant, of a 2008 Ford Mustang was traveling southbound on Lake Jackson Dr when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Speed is a factor in this collision.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — One person is dead following a crash in the Lake Jackson area of Prince William County. 

More in a police press release:

*INCIDENT: Single vehicle crash into a tree. 10500 block of Lake Jackson Dr. Driver, male, is confirmed dead at the scene. Rescue crews are still working to free the driver from the vehicle. Officers are on scene, follow police direction. The age of the victim is currently unknown. Further information on driver and vehicle description will be released upon next of kin notification.
