Suspect with Warrants Rams Deputy Vehicles, Caught After Chase in Spotsylvania

A 21-year-old man wanted in both Spotsylvania and Prince William counties was arrested Monday evening after crashing into two sheriff’s vehicles and leading deputies on a brief pursuit, police said.

Deputies spotted the suspect in a parking lot along Southpoint Parkway just before 6 p.m. When they tried to stop him, the man struck two marked vehicles and fled. Deputies quickly gave chase and safely stopped the vehicle a short time later.

The Spotsylvania man now faces several new charges, including felony eluding, assault on law enforcement, and destruction of property. He was also served with five outstanding warrants, including charges of strangulation, abduction with force, and unlawful entry.

Wanted Suspect Arrested After Striking Two Sheriff’s Office Vehicles and Fleeing
Spotsylvania County, VA – On November 12, 2025, at approximately 5:55 p.m., deputies with the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office attempted to locate a known wanted individual in the 4800 block of Southpoint Parkway. Deputies observed the suspect, Elmer Elvir, 21, of Spotsylvania, pull into a parking lot. When deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop, Elvir struck two Sheriff’s Office vehicles and fled the scene.

Deputies pursued the suspect, and after a brief chase, were able to safely stop the vehicle and take Elvir into custody.

Elvir was arrested and charged with:
• Felony Eluding
• Destruction of County Property (x2)
• Assault and Battery on Law Enforcement (x2)
• Driving Without a License
• No Insurance

In addition to these charges, Elvir was served with two outstanding warrants from Prince William County for Unlawful Entry and Destruction of Property, as well as three outstanding warrants from Spotsylvania County for Strangulation, Abduction with Force, and Domestic Assault and Battery.

We are grateful that Elvir’s reckless actions did not result in injuries to innocent bystanders. We thank our deputies for swiftly apprehending a dangerous offender. Their unwavering commitment to the safety of our community and their continued professionalism do not go unnoticed.
