Shots fired at shopping center

Dumfries, Va. –– One man fired a gun at a Dumfries shopping center on Tuesday, police said.

Witnesses called police to report someone had opened fire at Fortuna Center Plaza, in front of the Shoppers Food Warehouse at 4:33 p.m., said Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok.

No one was injured, but a preliminary investigation found that two men had been driving around the parking lot of the shopping plaza when one jumped out of the car, and then fired the gun.

The bullet then struck another car in the parking lot, said Perok.

Both the driver and the passenger both fled the scene before police arrived.

Perok said officers later caught up with the driver, identified him, but did not say if he was arrested.

Police also did not release the identity of the driver they say was involved in the incident.
