MANASSAS, Va. — The emergency room at Prince William Hospital has closed after a report of two FedEx employees who were potentially exposed to hazardous materials.
The employees drove themselves to the hospital and told officials they had come into contact with a white, powdery substance that was contained inside a package. It’s not yet known what the substance was, and the identities of the employees have not been released.
A FedEx truck that’s believed to have contained the package is parked outside a K-Mart store on Va. 234 in Manassas, about two miles from the hospital, and now being examined, said Prince William fire and rescue spokeswoman Kim Hylander.
Emergency crews in Prince William County are not taking patients to Prince William Hospital, but rather to other nearby facilities, said Hylander.
We’ll have more on this as it develops.
