Stafford County, Va. –– Those at Quantico on Tuesday will get a glimpse at what today’s modern Marine looks like.
The Modern Day Marine exposition will showcase the latest products in military manufacturing, science, technology and warfighting.
“The concept of holding this military exhibition on-site at Quantico is to give users of systems and equipment an opportunity to carry on dialogue with manufacturers’ representatives and suppliers that will lead to improvements in manufacturing, understanding the user needs and awareness of new equipment coming on line,” said Quantico spokesman Lt. Brian Villiard.
Opening ceremonies for the event will be held at 9:45 a.m., and the exhibits will be open from 10 a.m. until 3:39 p.m.
The expo continues Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., and Thursday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
The expo comes as officials on Monday announced another military expo that’s expected to attract several thousand federal, state, and local leaders, as well as security experts to the Stafford Regional Airport next year.
The eighth Force Protection Equipment Demonstration will be held May 17 through 19.
During the gathering, those who attend will see some of the latest technology used to counter terrorism efforts, and see new security systems used in combat zones and in the U.S.
Some of the topics to be covered at the event are reducing vulnerability to improvised explosive devices, car bombs, suicide bombers, nuclear materials and chemical and biological agents, according to a press release from event organizers.
The Stafford Regional Airport is on Centerpoint Parkway in Stafford County, off of Interstate 95.
