Someone staying at a hotel near Manassas told police they were threatened with a gun.
In the early morning hours of April 12, Prince William police received a call to investigate a report of someone brandishing a gun that was used to threaten a victim walking in a hallway at the Holiday Inn Express, at 10810 Battleview Parkway, near Manassas.
“The victim, an occupant of the hotel, reported that while he was in the hallway, he was approached by a group of unknown men. During the encounter, one of the men brandished a handgun towards the victim and made threats before forcing the victim outside,” states Prince William police spokeswoman Renee Carr in a press release.
The suspect left in a 4-door light-colored sedan. No shots were fired, and no one was injured, according to Carr.
Police later identified a suspect in the case on April 15. Attempts at catching and arresting the suspect were reportedly unsuccessful until April 16, when Loudoun County Sheriff deputies found and arrested him, according to Carr.
Joseph Javier Flores-Asencio, 21, of 22351 St. Louis Road in Middleburg is charged with brandishing and felon in possession of a firearm, said Carr.
A second suspect, David Tykee Hose Siggers, 22, is charged on April 14 with obstruction of justice, added Carr. Siggers was already jailed at the county’s Adult Detention Center on unrelated charges, according to Prince William County police.
Snapchat sell goes wrong
In an unrelated incident on April 29, police said a man was selling tobacco to a Snapchat user who agreed to meet the alleged seller. When the two met, the Snapchat buyer threatened the 18-year-old seller with a gun and then fled the scene without paying for his items, police said.
“The victim then went to the area of Prince William Parkway and Hoadley Road where he flagged down a passing police officer. No injuries were reported and the victim was able to provide police with information that later led to the identity of the accused,” said Carr.
The suspect was found at his home and was arrested. Police searched the house and found the firearm used on the scene of the robbery, said Carr.
The suspect, a 16-year-old male, is charged with robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony upon being taken to authorities. He is currently pending on a court trial date and being held in jail, according to police.
