Woodbridge, Va. — Stratford University students and faculty were filled with pride and excitement as they honored local veterans, active duty military and their families on Thursday for a complimentary lunch and dinner on their Woodbridge campus.
The university on Gideon Drive has long been a military-friendly school that has many ties to those serving in the military. Recent data shows more than 10 percent of students who are enrolled at Woodbridge campus are veterans or currently serving in the military.
“They are a very big part of our campus,” said Stratford Career Service Director Dhvani Ganatra. Ganatra helped plan and implement Thursday’s event, which drew at least two uniformed veterans during lunch.
There were no speeches or patriotic themed music during lunch, just good food as a way to say thank you.
Both lunch and dinner held a patriotic theme, with the dishes for these meals being prepared by students in the culinary program.
“We look forward to honoring everything you have done, and continue to do, for this great country.” In honor of Veteran’s Day, we salute the troops and applaud Stratford University’s efforts in celebrating all of the work these veterans and military workers have done to make life better for all Americans,” Ganatra told the veterans.
