WOODBRIDGE — On May 16, students from C.D. Hylton High School’s automotive class completed the final touches of a rebuild project.
The project, which they’ve been working on since January, was to rebuild a 2002 Jeep.
After undergoing a thorough application process through the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA), which serves the motor vehicle aftermarket, the Hylton automotive program was selected as one of five across the nation — out of 2,000 applicants — to complete the rebuild.
The program relied on donations from manufacturers and finished the project with an installation of a windshield from Safelite AutoGlass. The windshield was courtesy of Safelite AutoGlass’s District Manager, Jeff Wester, and Store Manager, Don Olah.
After the end-of-year banquet to celebrate the students’ success, the Jeep will be auctioned off and proceeds will benefit Hylton High’s automotive program which is run by the school’s automotive teacher, Eddie Stevens.
