DUMFRIES — The Prince William County Service Authority will begin sewer main rehabilitation work in the vicinity of Duke and Washington Streets in Dumfries on Monday, May 6.
The project should take six weeks to complete. Because this rehabilitation work does not involve digging up the street (trenchless), there will be little to no effect on traffic in this area.
The rehabilitation work involves lining the inside of the sewer main with a resin-like substance. The resin is cured through the use of ultraviolet light. Once the resin hardens, it essentially becomes a new pipe inside the existing sewer main.
This process protects the main from tree root intrusion and corrosion and will extend the life of the pipe for another 50 to 60 years. To view the type of sewer rehabilitation work that will be performed, please click the link below.
