WOODBRIDGE – (Press Release) The Prince William SPCA is sponsoring a new program for K-12 kids who want to make a make a positive social impact on the lives of companion animals.
The program provides resources and up to $500 in funding for student-led, student-run projects that focus on cruelty prevention, pet adoptions, humane education, enrichment, behavior, nutrition and spaying/neutering.
“The program is a perfect way for the Prince William SPCA to align our mission with the passion of young animal lovers who are in the community identifying problems that need solutions,” says Prince William SPCA President Melissa Korzuch.
She continues, “We know that kids love animals and want to help. They may not know where to start or think they can’t raise the money to make their project work. Through the Pawsitive Impact Program, we are breaking down those barriers and providing resources and funding to make their idea come to life, so they can make a difference.”
Students involved in Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4-H groups, Honor Societies, etc. located in the greater Prince William County region are eligible to participate. Scouts earning the highest awards in their organizations are strongly encouraged to apply. Special consideration will be given to projects that directly support the Manassas City Animal Adoption Center and the Prince William County Animal Shelter.

The Pawsitive Impact Program is part of PWSPCA Youth, which supports projects that focus on young animal lovers under 18 years of age. The Prince William SPCA sponsors 13,000 copies of Kind News magazine distributed annually in 500 local classrooms and has also sponsored scholarships, an essay contest, scout programs and other educational programs for children.
