LAKE RIDGE — A restauranteur will make another go of it at Tacketts Mill.
A restaurant space largely vacant for more nearly 20 years will serve up dishes once again in Lake Ridge.
Lakeside Cafe and Grill will open its doors June 15. Its diners will once again be able to sit by the lake at Prince William County’s first mixed-use shopping center dating back to the early 1980s.
Lakeside has an array of hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, and a crab cake sandwich on its menu. For dinner, it’ll offer rib-eye steaks, yellowfin tuna, grilled salmon, and sautéed Virginia trout.
The full-service eatery is also targeting what few others do — morning commuters. Lakeside will open its cafe at 6 a.m. to serve breakfast pastries and coffee. Two busy commuter lots sit just a stone’s throw away from the restaurant.
“It’s shameful that it sat empty for so long,” said restaurant General Manager Mike Wiseman. “Revitalizing it is important to the community.”
While this space has been used for many things, the last of which was a non-profit community kitchen, Georgetown Caterers once operated from the lakeside spot. The interior of the restaurant was known for its dark wood finishes and chandeliers. The eatery kept the tall wood beams that give the dining room its rustic character, but also updated the space, too, said Wiseman.
This is owner Christine Lall’s first restaurant, added Wiseman, so they’ll experimenting with events, music, and weddings soon after the hubbub over the grand opening dies down.
“We’re absolutely going to do these things, but we’re going to let the dust settle first,” said Wiseman.
Lakeside will be open weekdays from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Brunch will be served at 8 a.m. Saturday and Sunday with the restaurant closing at 11 p.m. and 9 p.m., respectively.
The restaurant is located at 2233 Tacketts Mill Drive.
