Woodbridge Man Faces Terror Charges

Woodbridge, Va. — A man living in Woodbridge has faces charges after federal authorities allege he has ties with a known terrorist group.

Jubair Ahmad, 24, a Pakistani native who since 2007 has lived in Woodbridge, is charged with providing material to support Lashkar-e-Tayyiba – a designated terror organization, as well as making false statements during an investigation, according to U.S. Eastern District of Virginia Attorney Neil McBride.

In September, Ahmad made a video and uploaded to YouTube showing conversations with operatives believed to be connected to the terror group, said McBride. After several video exchanges between suspected members of the group and Jubair, the final video showed Lashkar-e-Tayyiba’s leader, Hafiz Saeed, with trucks exploding after being hit with improvised explosive devices, said McBride.

In October, Saeed asked Ahmad to revise the video and repost it to YouTube, said McBride. During an interview with federal authorities last month, Ahmad denied any involvement with the video in uncovered in Oct. 2010.

Federal authorities since 2009 have been investigating Ahmad on suspected involvement with the terrorist organization. If convicted, he faces a maximum of 15 years in prison.
