Shot of the Week: Modern Art or Ancient Fertility Goddess?

I have seen ancient Mayan ruins in Guatemala before but I have to say I never thought I’d see anything like it in Stafford County.

Along the road near Brooke Virginia Railway Express station stands a statue about 6 feet tall. On July 16, I stopped to get a closer look but chose to keep my distance for two reasons:

First, it had vines growing on it. If you’ve ever had the misfortune to have had a run in with poison ivy and sorely lost like I have, you would understand.

Second, it looked vaguely like a fertility goddess statue, which is another thing I would be happy to keep my distance from. If anyone has information on the statue I do hope you would share it.
