Residents and visitors across Northern Virginia have two downtown First Friday celebrations to choose from this evening, Aug. 7, 2026.
Manassas: Dog Days of Summer
“It’s shaping up to be an awesome First Friday (8/7/26) here in Historic Downtown Manassas” with a “Dog Days of Summer” theme, live music, vendors, and dog-friendly amenities including misting tents and water bowls, the City of Manassas reported on Facebook.
Entertainment runs from 6 to 9 p.m. with bands including GOTAWAY Band, 8 Track Jones, Tiny Hands, Cracked Sky, Grupo Quimbao, and DJ DreamChild. The event remains a DORA zone with designated cups required for outdoor drinks.
Organizers noted a 2026 change requiring on-street alcohol consumption to end by 10:30 p.m., after which visitors not inside restaurants or bars are asked to exit downtown so streets can reopen safely by 11 p.m.
Fredericksburg: Art, Late Shopping, and Sip & Stroll
“Join us from 5–9 PM as downtown fills up with art, music, shopping, and great food and drink,” First Friday organizers reported on Facebook.
The evening features new gallery exhibits and artist receptions, late shopping at downtown stores, a Sip & Stroll for ages 21+ with designated cups and last call at 8:30 p.m., a free trolley running the same hours, and support from Robert B. Payne. The event is held rain or shine.
Held on the first Friday of every month, the gathering invites residents and visitors to experience Fredericksburg’s downtown creativity and hospitality.
