Area school divisions announce two-hour delays Monday amid icy roads and extreme cold

Stafford County Public Schools to open two hours late Monday due to road conditions

“Due to current road conditions in some areas of the county, Stafford Schools will operate on a 2-hour delay schedule on Monday, December 15, 2025,” Stafford County Public Schools announced. “This delay allows for safer travel conditions in the morning while preserving instructional time for our students.”

“For our drivers, please proceed with caution and reduce speed, especially on bridges and similar surfaces,” the school division added. “Allow extra time for your commute. Avoid sudden stops and sharp turns.”

Under the two-hour delay, high schools and The Phoenix Center will operate from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.; middle schools from 11:20 a.m. to 3:50 p.m.; and elementary schools on staggered schedules. Bus service will also run on a two-hour delay, and early childhood education centers will adjust full-day and half-day programs accordingly. School officials said conditions will continue to be assessed, with updates provided if changes are needed.

Spotsylvania County Public Schools to open two hours late Monday

“Spotsylvania County Public Schools will open two hours late Monday, December 15, 2025,” Spotsylvania County Public Schools announced. “No AM ECSE preschool classes, PM classes will begin on time.”

“12-month employees and essential employees report to work on time,” the school division added. “All other employees report two hours late.”

Manassas City Public Schools to open two hours late Monday due to cold, icy conditions

“All Manassas City Public Schools and offices will be on a two hour delay, Monday, December 15, 2025 due to projected low wind temperatures and possible icy conditions in the early morning hours,” Manassas City Public Schools announced. “There will be no Pre-K.”

“AlphaBest will open at 8:30 am,” the school division added.

The delayed opening applies to all Manassas City Public Schools and administrative offices on Monday as officials monitor cold temperatures and the potential for icy road conditions during the early morning commute.

“Fredericksburg City Schools will be on a two-hour delay tomorrow, Monday, December 15 for everyone including 12-month employees and essential workers,” Fredericksburg City Schools announced. “Additionally, temperatures will be extremely low this evening and into the morning during normal school opening.”

The delayed opening applies to all students and staff, including 12-month employees and essential workers, as the school division monitors overnight temperatures and morning travel conditions.

“All schools will open on a 2-hour delay tomorrow, Monday, December 15th,” Manassas Park City Schools announced. “The delay is to provide extra travel time to school as well as address any remaining icy surfaces in the morning before students and staff arrive to the buildings.”
