The ribbon cutting for the Riverfront Park Ice Rink will now take place on Thursday, December 18, 2025, following a recent postponement.
The updated date was announced by the Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce, which is promoting the grand opening celebration in partnership with Fredericksburg Main Street.

The Riverfront Park Ice Rink is part of Fredericksburg Main Street’s holiday programming in Downtown Fredericksburg. The seasonal attraction features an eco-friendly synthetic skating surface designed for skaters of all ages, with skate rentals included in ticket prices.
Founded in 2013, Fredericksburg Main Street is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening downtown Fredericksburg by supporting local businesses and creating community-centered experiences. The organization is accredited by both Virginia Main Street and Main Street America and works closely with business owners, civic leaders, and residents on events, placemaking projects, business support, and preservation initiatives.
Fredericksburg Main Street is responsible for several of the city’s signature downtown events, including First Friday Sip & Stroll, quarterly Downtown Shop Crawls, the annual giant Christmas tree in Riverfront Park, holiday shop lighting along Caroline Street, and seasonal festive programming.
The skating rink is open to the public from Friday, November 29, through Sunday, December 28, providing a holiday backdrop near the downtown Christmas tree and riverfront.

- Saturdays: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Sundays: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

- December 22–28: Open daily, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Closed Christmas Day

- Ages 13 and older: $12
- Ages 12 and under: $8

Organizers encourage visitors to reserve timed-entry tickets in advance, especially during peak holiday dates.
