Ribbon Cutting for Fredericksburg Riverfront Park Ice Rink Postponed

The ribbon-cutting for the grand opening of the new Riverfront Park Ice Rink, scheduled for 4 p.m. today, has been postponed. No reason was given.

Despite the delay in the ceremonial opening, plans remain in place for a month-long holiday skating experience in Downtown Fredericksburg. From Friday, November 29, through Sunday, December 28, visitors can glide across a synthetic, eco-friendly skating surface installed at Riverfront Park.

Fredericksburg Main Street says the surface is safe for all ages and designed to mimic the feel of real ice. Skate rentals are included with each ticket.

The rink will sit against the backdrop of the city’s downtown Christmas tree, creating what organizers call a “winter wonderland” atmosphere for families, couples, and groups looking to celebrate the holiday season.
