Train Passenger Arrested After Assaulting Deputy

A disturbance at the Brooke Road Commuter Lot led to the arrest of a 34-year-old man from Washington D.C.

The incident occurred when the man refused to exit a train despite not having a valid ticket. When Deputy E. L. Jones intervened, the suspect struck the deputy in the leg and resisted arrest. He was charged with felony assault on law enforcement, obstruction of justice, and trespassing, and is being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail under a secured bond.

In other incidents, multiple fraud reports were filed on November 5. On US Ford Lane, a victim reported unauthorized transactions on their account. On Spring Lake Drive, an individual discovered debit card accounts opened in their name without consent. Additionally, a resident of Ironside Cove reported fraudulent purchases after buying from a deceptive website.

These incidents highlight ongoing issues of fraud and disturbances in the area.

FRAUD
US Ford Lane, 11/5 1:53 p.m. Deputy C. M. Hidalgo responded to a fraud report. The victim reported two unauthorized transactions on their account.
Spring Lake Drive, 11/5 7:13 p.m. Deputy D. S. Jett responded to a fraud complaint. The victim reported that an unknown individual has been opening debit card accounts in their name.
Ironside Cove, 11/5 8:05 p.m. Deputy K. F. Shifflett responded to a fraud report. The victim reported that they made a purchase from a website that they later found to be fraudulent. After making the purchase, the victim advised that numerous unauthorized purchases appeared on her account.

DISTURBANCE
Brooke Road Commuter Lot, 1721 Brooke Road 11/5 8:11 a.m. Deputy E. L Jones responded to a disturbance at this location. Train personnel advised that a passenger was refusing to exit the train after staff found that the passenger did not have a valid ticket to be on the train. Deputy Jones made contact with the subject who continued to refuse to leave the train. The subject finally agreed to exit the train. As the subject was exiting the train, he struck Deputy Jones in the leg. The subject continued to actively resist being taken into custody. The suspect was ultimately arrested. The suspect, Anthony Barbour, 34, of Washington D.C. was charged with felony assault to law enforcement, obstruction of justice, and trespassing. Barbour was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail under a secured bond.
