Police blotter: Firearm brandished at Potomac Mills, suspect arrested

An altercation between two groups of teens at Potomac Mills in Woodbridge escalated when an 18-year-old brandished a firearm towards a 14-year-old male.

The incident occurred near the food court, prompting a chase to Round 1 Bowling & Arcade, where police were notified. The suspect was detained, and a stolen firearm was recovered. No shots were fired, and no injuries were reported.

In a separate incident, a 19-year-old from Woodbridge was charged with reckless handling of a firearm after a weapon discharged, sending projectiles into a neighboring residence. No injuries were reported in this case.

Additionally, an 18-year-old female was arrested for assaulting two officers during a domestic disturbance investigation in Woodbridge. The suspect resisted detention, resulting in minor injuries to the officers.

Brandishing of a Firearm – On October 4 at 4:21PM, officers responded to Potomac Mills located at 2700 Potomac Mills Cir in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate an altercation between two groups. The investigation revealed two groups of teens were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated near the food court area. During the encounter, one of the individuals, later identified as the accused, brandished a firearm towards a 14-year-old male juvenile in the other group. The victim attempted to separate from the accused when he was chased to the Round 1 Bowling & Arcade where a staff member was alerted and contacted police. Officers detained the accused who was accompanied by two male juveniles. No injuries were reported, and no shots were fired during the incident. A firearm was recovered from the accused which was determined to have been reported stolen. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Marcus Dearunda DOUGLAS. Jr., was arrested.

Reckless Handling of a Firearm – On October 3, officers responded to investigate a destruction of property that was reported to have occurred at a residence located in the 4100 block of Churchman Way in Woodbridge (22192) on October 1. The investigation revealed a neighbor, identified as the accused, was handling a firearm when the weapon discharged, causing projectiles to enter a neighboring residence. No injuries were reported. On October 6, following the investigation, the accused, identified as Maxwell Xavier JOHNSON, was charged.

Assault & Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer [LEO] – On October 5 at 2:50AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 3800 block of Danbury Ct in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate an initial report of a domestic. During the investigation, the parties involved were detained. One of the individuals, identified as the accused, resisted detention and kicked an officer in the lower body. Additionally, the accused caused an injury to another officer’s hand. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Adrianna DIXON, was arrested.
