No sound, no touch, no light: Elysian Float Spa offers a sensory deprivation spa experience to take away the stress of the holidays. Located in Fredericksburg, Elysian offers 60 minute or 90 minute float therapy sessions. Owner Debbie Elkins said float therapy has three main targets: athletic recovery, chronic pain,, and mental wellness (anxiety, depression, PTSD).
Two couples, Mark and Debbie Elkins from Stafford and Jason and Christy Ostrander met 15 years ago at a small church group. After a float spa experience in Williamsburg, Mark and Debbie told Jason, a career massage therapist, that this type of wellness experience was needed in the Fredericksburg area.
Opening in April 2022, clients can choose a 60 or 90 minute float in 12 inches of water saturated with 1,000 pounds of medical-grade Epsom salt. The high salt concentration makes the body totally buoyant, which allows muscles and joints to fully relax. The water is set to body temperature; clients can choose silence, ambient noise, or music; and whether to have lighting or darkness.
Elysian Float Spa offers 60 minute or 90 minute sessions. Clients can book a single float, or a 3-float session package. They also offer monthly memberships.
As a thank you for service, Elysian Float Spa offers discounts for retired or active military, fire and rescue, police, and EMT personnel. Their Facebook page is updated often for additional holiday specials and announcements.

Debbie said it’s always exciting to see recipients of gift cards visit the spa after the holidays. The new customers will tell her “They’ve ‘been wanting to try this for so long,’ and we love getting to know our relaxed and refreshed clients,” she shared.
Elysian Float Spa is located at 4413 Lafayette Boulevard in Fredericksburg. They’re open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and only by appointment.
