
Susan Spears, President and CEO of the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce shared her enthusiasm during the ceremony. “The Publisher Hotel represents a major investment in our region,” Spears said, commending Vakos Real Estate Services’ consistent dedication to high-quality developments in Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania, and Stafford Counties.
Senator Tara Durant (R) highlighted the hotel’s impact on the community. “This hotel is now the crown jewel of our historic downtown, enriching our community economically and culturally,” said Durant. She praised the project as a symbol of growth and a testament to hard work.
The hotel was developed by Vakos Real Estate Services, which is known for its extensive experience in the region. Owner William J. Vakos, III discussed the significance of the deep community ties and the project. “This development is a narrative of our family’s faith and dedication to this community, reflecting our commitment through times of significant challenges,” he said.
The hotel offers a range of accommodation options. Guests can choose from luxurious suites with views of the historic downtown, cozy king rooms, or double queen rooms featuring modern amenities.
Greg Monjour, General Manager of The Publisher, acknowledged the collaborative efforts behind the hotel’s realization. “This is the result of a strong partnership among Vakos, Marriott, and Greenwood Hospitality,” he said.
Tom Conrad of Greenwood Hospitality, the hotel’s managing firm, recognized the hotel’s unique aspects. “It’s an honor to be part of this project with the Vakos family, and we look forward to its success,” Conrad stated.
The hotel introduces Five Chophouse & Bar, where Executive Chef Christopher Ayla presents a New American menu with international influences, promising a unique dining experience.
Lisa Sexton from Marriott, under whose banner the hotel flies, commented on the development challenges. “Despite the difficulties over the past four years, the dedication to deliver this extraordinary property has been remarkable,” Sexton remarked.
