Barnes & Noble will open a new bookstore at Stonebridge in Potomac Town Center on Monday, March 7.

Located near Wegmans, the new Barnes & Noble is the first to open in Woodbridge and features a café, large book rooms, stationery, puzzles, board games, and toys.

The new store will open at 10 a.m. with a ribbon-cutting and signing by local author TJ Klune, author of Under the Whispering Door – Barnes & Noble’s Speculative Fiction Book of 2021 – and historical fiction author Margaret Rodenberg, author of Finding Napoleon.

“We are so thrilled to open our first store here in Woodbridge. It is especially fitting that one of our first new stores of 2022 is in a brand-new market for Barnes & Noble,” said James Daunt, CEO, Barnes & Noble. “As we evaluated where to open new stores, Woodbridge truly stood out, and we are excited to start this new chapter of bookselling. Store Manager Cristina Knighton and her team have created an exceptional shop that promises to become a new community hub.”

Employees at the new store have selected books and merchandise designed to cater to area residents. The store will feature a large children’s section, multiple history titles, and mystery and thriller books.

Young Adult titles and Manga will have a large footprint in the store, too.

Barnes & Noble allows employees to curate their bookstores in a way that will best appeal to their customers. According to the company, it is a new approach to bookselling at Barnes & Noble, bringing respect for local knowledge that is at the heart of the best bookstores, a philosophy that reflects the experience of CEO James Daunt, a long-time independent bookseller prior to his taking on the running of Barnes & Noble.

“I am so excited to be opening a Barnes & Noble here in Woodbridge. I am local to the area and understand how much we needed a bookstore here. I am delighted to be given the opportunity to manage this location and select books that our community would enjoy,” said Store Manager Cristina Knighton. “We have all been hard at work to get this store ready for customers, and we cannot wait to welcome them in next week.”

In addition to the grand opening with TJ Klune and Margaret Rodenberg, the store has plans for additional book signings and is planning for bigger events such as storytimes and book readings later this year, according to a press release.
