Fifteen-year-old Sophia Matias was hit by a car while waiting for the school bus.
The driver fled the scene. Sophia was rushed to the hospital and suffered a broken jaw, pelvis, and hip. She also sustained a brain bleed and bruising to her lungs and kidney.
Sophia is currently undergoing surgery at VCU Medical Center in Richmond.
Yesterday, a family friend created this GoFundMe page to help the Matias family during this difficult time. In less than 24 hours, more than $31,000 was raised.
