At 9:07 a.m. on Tuesday, December 15, Virginia State Police responded to a crash on Route 17 near Route 301 in Caroline County.
The preliminary investigation reveals that a 2019 Volkswagen Jetta was traveling south on Route 17 when it ran off the road to the left and struck a tree.
The driver, and sole occupant of the vehicle, succumbed to her injuries on the scene. She was not wearing a seatbelt.
Allison Stofko, 33, of Dumfries, was killed in the crash.
