The cost of extending Conner Drive, a two-lane street in Manassas Park, has increased by 525% to $2.5 million. And it could go up from there, but city leaders want to get the ball rolling. City leaders say it cost more than expected to relocate utility lines. the effort to extend the street to connect Route 28 with Euclid Avenue first appeared on the radar in 2011. Prince William Acting Police Chief Jarad Phelps at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 17 will talk to the County Board of Supervisors about the department’s plan to reduce speeding in the county. Last year, county officers issued more than 8,700 speeding tickets.
On the heels of new coronavirus restrictions set to go into effect by Gov. Ralph Northam, the Stafford County Board of Supervisors will discuss the mental health impacts to those suffering job losses, and other mental health issues related to the shutdown, at its 3 p.m. meeting on Tuesday, November 17. A total of 1,211 people in Virginia committed suicide in 2018.
Wednesday
Whenever they get back into school, children at Woodbridge Middle School could soon have a new cell phone tower on campus. The Prince William County School Board is set to approve the tower at its 7:30 p.m. meeting on Wednesday, November. The school division stands to benefit from the deal.
–It’ll get $5,000 for each additional cell phone provider that uses the tower, after the initial carrier
–A monthly rent equal to 40 percent of gross revenue derived from the carriers located on the tower.
–It’ll also get $25,000 for about 2,600 acres of the school property that will be used to build the tower.
It’s item 12.02 on the agenda, and, to boot, it’s on the Consent Agenda, so they’ll probably be very little if any discussion on the matter during the meeting.
