PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — Some students in Prince William County are headed back to class in renovated school buildings.
Crews have spent the summer adding new classrooms to a handful of schools in eastern Prince William County:
- Antietam Elementary school 13 new rooms, 10.3 million
- Lake Ridge Elementary 13 new rooms, $10.9 million
- Minnieville Elementary School 10 rooms $12 million
- Springwoods Elementary, 13 rooms, $11.9 million
A 17-room addition was added to Stonewall Middle School, located near Manassas, at a cost of $17.1 million.
There were also school “renewals” completed this summer to include a new roof at Beville Middle School in Dale City ($2.1 million), phase two of a revitalization work at Leesylvania Elementary School in Woodbridge ($7.6 million). There were also renewals at Marshall, Montclair, and Mountain View elementary schools.
The Prince William County Schools division aims to update school buildings at on or before their 25th year of use. In the case of older elementary schools, new activity rooms have been added, while music rooms have been added to middle schools that didn’t have them.
For county high schools, Osbour Park near Manassas got the most attention this summer. The following was done there:

- Abatement of Upper Cafeteria
- Roof & Penthouse Brick Repair
- Storage Building Outside Driver Training Area
- Library Carpet ? Auditorium Sound System and Projector Screen
- Gym Floor Repair
- Second Floor Staff Bathroom
As for football stadiums, artificial turf fields were installed at Woodbridge and Stonewall Jackson high schools for $3 million. New field lighting was installed at C.D. Hylton High School in Dale City.
School starts on Monday, August 26.
