PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY —Â (Press Release) Here’s a rundown on events in Prince William County in February, ranging from Valentine’s day specials to concerts to African American Heritage events for history lovers.
African American History Month Events:
2/1 – 2/24 The Underground Railroad Network to Freedom at Leesylvania State Park (Woodbridge) The Leesylvania property is associated with the flight of two runaway slaves, as well as a slave who escaped in 1848. A band of escaped slaves also informed Union soldiers of Confederate activity at the property’s Freestone Point in September 1861.
2/2 – 2/24 Lucasville School Open House Weekends (Manassas) Celebrate African American History Month at historic Lucasville School during their open house weekends in February. Visit the reconstructed 19th century school used by the community of Lucasville.
2/9 Historic Barnes House Open House (Dumfries) Get a behind the scenes tour of Prince William County’s newest “old” building. The Barnes House was the home to an African American family after the Civil War.
2/16 The African American Experience at Ben Lomond (Manassas) Ben Lomond Historic Site is proud to present special guided tours in recognition of African-American History Month.
2/16 Future Kings 5th Annual Black History Gala (Woodbridge) This evening is a fundraising event that is designed to support the work being performed by the Future Kings organization. The evening is designed to be a night to remember.
2/23 African American History at Brentsville Courthouse (Bristow) Explore the lives of African Americans in 19th century from the perspective of Brentsville Courthouse. As we tour the site, learn about how they lived, their experiences, and how they were treated in the community.
Valentine’s Events:
2/9 Valentine’s Wine Dinner with Chef Johnnie Thomas at the Winery at La Grange (Haymarket) Join the Winery at La Grange team for an early celebration of Valentine’s Day with a wine paired dinner from Chef Johnnie Thomas.
2/14 Valentine’s Day at the Harbour Grill (Woodbridge) The Harbour Grill will be offering guests a special dinner menu on Valentine’s Day, and the ladies will also receive a single red rose.
2/14 Valentine’s Dinner for 2 at Eclipse Restaurant (Gainesville) Join Club Eclipse February 14th for a romantic evening with live acoustic music, three course dinner for two. Every lady will be given one long stem rose.
2/15 Valentine’s Couples Dinner Banquet at Stonewall Golf Club (Gainesville) Join the Stonewall Golf Club for an evening of romance, dinner, games, and dancing. There will be information about keeping your relationship healthy and strong.
2/16 My Sweetheart Tea Party at Sweet Zen7 Health Bar & More  (Bristow) Bring your little one(s) to join the Sweet Zen7 Health Bar team for some tea time, arts & crafts and a sweet treat to take home.
Other Area Events:
2/9 Chocolate Walk in Historic Occoquan (Occoquan) Walk around the town of Historic Occoquan enjoying chocolate treats from participating stores. You can also enter a raffle to win one of two fantastic prizes.
2/9 Vintage, Antique & Craft Bazaar at The Zen Lounge (Manassas) Join the Zen Lounge team from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on 2/9 at their vintage, antique & craft bazaar. Raffles every hour on the hour from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
2/9 Family Day – I Heart Art at the National Museum of the Marine Corps (Triangle) Tour the Museum’s combat art gallery and talk to the Museum’s artist in residence at the studio. Children aged 5-12 can create a work of art to take home for their special valentine. Events are free and open to the public.
2/9 80s Night on the Water at the Electric Palm (Woodbridge) Born in 2000, but forged in the neon of the most decadent of decades, the Reflex is an 80s Tribute Band. Dust off your Jordache jeans, tighten up that fanny pack, throw on your Members-only jacket, slip into some Vans, and prepare yourself for the sounds of The Reflex.
2/10 Weddings & Events Open House at Bristow Manor Golf Club (Bristow) Looking for a venue for your wedding or special event? Come tour this gorgeous colonial manor house, and chat with their event coordinators. Enter to win door prizes, a free ceremony, Tiffany champagne glasses, and other giveaways.
2/15 Comfort and Wine Dinner at Effingham Manor Winery (Nokesville) Enjoy comfort food provided by a local chef to go along with Effingham’s award winning wines in Manor House. Don’t forget to bring games for the parlor rooms upstairs, and enjoy an evening out at Effingham.
2/15 Wedding Open House at the Piedmont Club (Haymarket) Plan your special day in one location. Friends, family and bridal parties welcome. Door prizes and complimentary refreshments will be available for all attendees.
2/15 A Hypnotist event with Flip Orley at Eclipse Restaurant Sports Bar & Billiards (Gainesville) Spend a fun night out with Hypnotist Flip Orley and DC Improv at Club Eclipse in Gainesville.
2/16 – 2/17 – Virginia National Ballet performs Aladdin at Hylton Performing Arts Center (Manassas) Virginia National Ballet presents the World Premiere of “Aladdin” choreographed by visionary Artistic Director Rafik Hegab. This event includes dancing by VNB’s professional company of fourteen award winning international dancers.
2/17 Distiller for a Day at MurLarkey Distilled Spirits (Bristow) Join the team at MurLarkey Distilled Spirits behind the scenes to learn how they produce their award-winning selection of spirits. The immersive experience will be offered on February 17 and on March 31 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aspiring distillers will work alongside MurLarkey distillers to run mash through a still, char and fill aging barrels, and proof down spirits in tanks (and of course, taste the spirit all along the way).
2/17 Tea Time at Simply Desserts (Gainesville) Spend the afternoon sipping on tea and snacking on delicious homemade desserts while spending quality time with friends and family.
2/22 & 2/23 – MerMagic Con at Freedom Aquatic & Fitness Center (Manassas) Mermaid workshops, specialty vendors, and the Circus Siren Pod’s first ever open auditions. We will have three tracks — children, enthusiast, and professional — so there will be content to meet all of your mermaiding needs, whether it’s your first time in a tail or you are looking to take your business to the next level.
2/22 Diamond Alley at Lion & Bull (Haymarket) Back in Haymarket for “No Snow” February.  Join the Diamond Alley band for the post Valentines celebration at one of the best bars in the area.
2/23 Mermaid Gala at the Wyndham Garden Manassas (Manassas) This is the formal event of Mer-Magic Con. Wear your most beautiful dress, dance your fins off, and enjoy the open bar.
2/23 Northern Virginia Polar Plunge Festival at Tim’s Rivershore (Dumfries) The NOVA Polar Plunge® Festival features over 300 Special Olympics supporters competing to raise funds, getting decked out in their wildest costumes and taking an ice-cold plunge into the icy Potomac.
2/23 Cirque Mechanics at Hylton Performing Arts Center (Manassas) Experience the latest invention from the minds of Cirque Mechanics with their signature blend of acrobatics, mechanical marvels, and a good bit of clowning around. This new production tells the story of an iconic 42-foot circus ring with talented acrobats and aerialists performing feats of strength and agility.
