A public memorial will be held Monday for Quantico Town Councilman Jerre Thomas

QUANTICO — A Quantico Town Council member will be remembered at a public memorial service.

Jerre Thomas II, died on Thursday, April 12 when his motorcycle was struck by another vehicle on Interstate 95 near Dumfries.

A public memorial will be held in Quantico at Rafatelis Potomac River Park on Monday, April 23, 2018, at 4 p.m. The park is located at 408 River Road in Quantico.

Town Mayor Kevin Brown as asked attendees to arrive early and be seated by 4 p.m. He’s also asked large groups to RSVP by emailing [email protected].

Thomas II was a retired Master Gunnery Sergeant in from the Marine Corps.

He was finishing up his first term on the Quantico Town Council this month. He was seeking a second term on council and is on a ballot for the upcoming May 1 election.

Mayor Kevin Brown said he suspects a Special Election will be held sometime after May 1 to fill Jerre’s seat on the council.
