New brews coming to Manassas area

PRINCE WILLAM COUNTY — The Manassas area will soon be home to two new breweries.

Public Safety Brewing, a Samuel Gray company, is planned to operate at 10844 Balls Ford Road, Manassas. The brewery will carry 500 barrels or less, according to their ABC license application, which is still pending.

An agent for the brewery did not return our requests for comment.

A second brewery is ready to open its door this week. With a soft opening starting this week, Eavesdrop Brewery on 7223 Centreville Road (Route 28) in Yorkshire will feature a large tasting room and production facility housed in a former racing pigeon loft.

Joe River, COO said stated in a press release, “This will be the second brewery I’ve been a part of during the opening process, and things have been going very smoothly. Our first beers are tasting good, and I’m excited to see what people think.”

The loft has been renovated with 20 taps and a rooftop bar. The grounds feature a hop garden, apple trees, berry bushes, along with family-style seating and fire pits.

Eavesdrop will produce a variety of beers on their three-barrel system, emphasizing farmhouse styles, IPAs and barrel-aging brews. Plans include collaboration beers with breweries both local and abroad. However, Eavesdrop beers will make up the majority of the tap list.

The brewery also plans to work with local chefs, restaurants and businesses to organize bespoke beer dinners, tastings and other events. The public can request to hold special events there as well.

“We are honored to be a part of the growing Northern Virginia craft beer scene,” Rivera said. “We hope to continue the high standard of beer that the breweries before us have set.”

Eavesdrop will be open Wednesday through Sunday, with special hours for the soft opening week. The Wednesday, March 7 Friends and Family Preview Night is closed to the public, but the public is welcome Friday, March 9 between 4 and 9 p.m.

The brewery will also be open to the public this Saturday between 12 and 9 p.m. and Sunday between 12 and 6 p.m.

Pets are allowed outside only.
