Newly elected public officials who will serve Prince William County will be sworn in next week.
Here’s more in a county press release:
On Monday, Jan. 4, 2016, there will be a Swearing-In Ceremony for the Prince William Board of County Supervisors, as well as the Clerk of the Circuit, Commonwealth’s Attorney and Sheriff.
The ceremony begins at 7 p.m. and will be held in Merchant Hall at the Hylton Performing Arts Center, 10960 George Mason Circle, Manassas. The public is invited to attend the ceremony and stay for the reception immediately following.
All members of the Prince William County Board of Supervisors take an oath of office following each election, said Prince William County spokesman Jason Grant.
A General Election was held in November. Chairman At-large Corey Stewart, Maureen Caddigan, Frank Principi, John Jenkins, Marty Nohe, and Peter Candland were all re-elected. Jeanine Lawson was elected to her first full term after being elected in December 2014 to finish the term of Wally S. Covington who stepped down from the Board to become a judge.
Ruth Anderson was elected to replace Mike May as the Occoquan District Supervisor. May chose not to run for reelection for that seat.
Prince William Commonwealth Attorney Paul Ebert, Sheriff Glen Hill, and Clerk of the Circuit Court Michele McQuigg – all incumbents — will be sworn in at the ceremony.
