Passenger angered after driver charged with DUI
A woman faces charges after police said she tried to punch an officer during a traffic stop in Woodbridge.
An officer stopped a car about 11 p.m. Saturday in the area of Whittier Loop and Redwing Drive. The driver of the car is being charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, according to police.
A passenger inside the car became agitated and pushed a police officer, police said. Then the woman tried to strike an officer, according to police.
Officers tried to restrain the woman who continued to try to strike officers, according to police.
Police said Deeana Garcia, 23, of Torrence Place in Woodbridge, is charged with assault and battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, and with intoxication in public. She was held without bond and is due in court April 23.
