Megan Elliott of Woodbridge, Va. was one of 115 first-year students who recently took part in the Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine Class of 2018 White Coat Ceremony.
Elliott graduated from C.D. Hylton High School in 2009 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry in 2013 and a Master of Science in Biochemistry in 2014 from the University of Tulsa. She is the daughter of Jay and Jane Melott of Woodbridge, granddaughter of Jenny Melott of North Platte, Neb., and wife of Benjamin Elliott.
The white coats symbolize the students’ commitment to medicine and community service. The Oklahoma Osteopathic Association provided the white coats for the students.
“The Class of 2018 represents the future of medicine in Oklahoma,” said Dr. Kayse Shrum, president of the OSU Center for Health Sciences and dean of the College of Osteopathic Medicine. “As the new students begin their medical training, they will learn how to provide the best possible health care and become outstanding community leaders and quality physicians.”
The OSU-COM Class of 2018 includes 97 Oklahoma residents and 18 students from Arkansas, California, Colorado, Illinois, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Wisconsin, Germany and Jamaica.
