John Henry Cobb

John Henry Cobb age 85 of Manassas, VA died at his residence on Sunday, May 18, 2014.

He was a heavy equipment operator for R.C. Hawkins for 25 years before retiring. He came to Manassas in 1959 from Buckingham County, VA and he enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed spending time with anyone that enjoyed life in general, worked hard and loved the simple things in life. He would tell ya ” pull up a chair and sit awhile

He was preceded in death by his parents Henry Goodwin and Pauline Davidson Cobb; his brothers Edward Cobb, Goody Cobb and David Cobb and by his sister Virginia Carter-Stout.

Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years Doris “Peggy” Cobb; his children Wanda Bryant and significant other Cecil Byars, John “Blue” Cobb, Jean Warner and husband Jeff; Billy Cobb and significant other Kim Wieland and Carolyn Roof and husband Martin; his sisters Elizabeth Culler and Evaleen Bryant and husband Hayden; his brother Eugene Cobb and wife Barbara; 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Survivors also included all the Loch Lomond neighborhood kids which he thought of as his own even as they became adults with their own families. Especially for Wade Warner and Conrad & Tanya (Cooper) Holtslag and their families.

The family will receive friends at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas, VA on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM where funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Interment Stonewall Memory Gardens
