As snow falls throughout the region tonight, and into tomorrow, VDOT has issued a release, warning of current hazardous road conditions for drivers.
VDOT is continuing to plow and treat the roads as the snow progresses.
More from a VDOT release:
At this time, there are patches of ice and snow on the primary routes in the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula areas. Interstate 95 and primary routes in the Fredericksburg area are wet. These conditions are expected to change as the snow intensifies. Motorists are reminded that bridges, overpasses, ramps and turn lanes freeze first.
VDOT crews and contractors are applying chemicals on the interstate, primary and high volume secondary routes as needed and will continue to treat roads throughout the night. Plowing operations will begin once there is at least two inches of snow on the pavement.
