DUMFRIES, Va. — Something’s not right with the signal light at Va. 234 and U.S. 1 in Dumfries.
According to a notice from the Dumfries Business Association, town authorities are looking into why the signal light at the busy intersection is randomly flashing yellow at various points during the day.
Here’s a portion of an email that was distributed by the Dumfries Business Association:
The traffic signals have been randomly going to “flash” since Friday. VDOT is aware of this issue and are trying to determine why this is occurring. Both Prince William Officers and Dumfries Officers have been providing extra patrols to check and reset the light as needed.
Police have been made aware, according to the business group, and so have officials at the Virginia Department of Transportation.
“A signal tech has been dispatched to this signal. However, we have been observing a camera at this signal and it is operating properly at this time,” VDOT told Potomac Local News.
The intersection sees more than 50,000 vehicles per day.
