Haymarket Celebrates ‘Stars & Stripes’ Tomorrow

HAYMARKET, Va. — Despite the rainy weather as of late, organizers of this weekends Stars and Stripes Festival in Haymarket said the show will go on.

The festival is billed as one of the smaller events held in the town each year, attracting 6,000 people.

The event will begin tomorrow at 1 p.m. with a street fair featuring vendors, restaurants, and breweries. Then, after the street fair ends at 6 p.m., the town’s Summer Concert Series is held at an outdoor venue until 9 p.m.

If the weather is poor on Saturday, festival organizers say the Stars and Stripes Festival will be held on Sunday, a planned rain date.

Of the annual events held year year in the tiny town, Haymarket Day is the largest event and attracts 30,000 people, according to organizers Spend the Day in Haymarket. This year, Haymarket Day will be held Sept. 21.

Located in western Prince William County, Haymarket dates back to the 1700s and boasted a population of nearly 2,000 residents in 2010.
